Patient concern about AIDS
A
recent survey of dental patients showed that patient protection was #1 on their list of concerns about dental care. Some patients have even quit going to the dentist because of their fears.
Fortunately, trips to Dr. Janssen's office have never been safer. The case in
Florida where the patient was apparently infected with the AIDS
virus by her dentist is the only such case out of tens of millions
of dental treatments performed since the introduction of the virus.
The infection is suspected to have occurred because of gross neglect
regarding standard sanitary practices.
Our instruments are thoroughly cleaned and subsequently sterilized to
kill any bacteria. The dental environment is an extremely safe
one. Everyone needs dental care o a regular basis to prevent
costly complex problems. The old saying "An ounce of prevention is
worth a pound of cure" definitely applies to dentistry. Remember
that lack of pain is a very poor indicator of dental health as up
to 98% of dental disease does not hurt.
